Videos and DVDs
Patrons with signed video/DVD contracts and owing no video/DVD debts or more than $20 in other fines may check out up to five video titles. Videos and DVDs will be due by the closing of the library on the date due. Video and DVD fines are $1.00 per title per day.
Videos and DVDs must be returned to either the Centreville or Kent Island Branches. If they are returned to other County Libraires, fines will be charged for the time in transit.
Other Materials
Patrons may have up to 50 total items checked out on their card. This includes 5 DVDs/videos, 3 blu-rays, 15 music CDs, 5 adult recorded books on CD, 5 juvenile recorded books on CD, 5 recorded books on cassette, and 3 CD ROMs.
All materials are due by the closing of the library on the date due. Fines on materials other than videos are $.20 per item per day. Video and DVD fines are $1.00 per day.
Fines will not exceed 75% of the original purchase price of the items.
Fines are not charged for Sundays, holidays or other days the library is closed.
There will be a fine of $5.00 for videos, CDs, or cassettes returned without liner notes and $1.50 for cassettes returned without the manila envelope, plastic bag or soft pak. A fine of $2.50 will be charged for videos, CDs or cassettes returned without the case.
Patrons owing $20 or more will lose borrowing privileges.
Notices and Bills
Only one overdue notice will be sent as a reminder to return item(s). If an item is not returned, the original purchase price will be billed to patron's record.
If the patron returns billed items, fines will not exceed 75% of the price.
If materials are reported lost, patron is responsible for paying full price.
Patrons damaging materials beyond use or repair are charged the full price.
Lost, billed or damaged items that are paid are considered to be the property of the patron. Refunds will not be given for materials returned once they are paid for.
Claimed Returned
If a patron is positive they have returned an item and a search is completed at both branches for that item, a "claimed returned" status will be placed on the computer for that item. Patron returning a "claimed returned" item will be charged usual fines.
Patrons may have one "claimed returned" at any one time.
